Everyone in the conversation can see when Pocket is on. That is a hardware decision, and it is one we are proud of.

Nothing starts on its own
There is no always-listening mode and no wake word. Recording begins on a physical press and ends on one. The device cannot be woken remotely.
Encrypted before it is stored
Audio is encrypted in the moment of capture. A lost device is a paperweight: without your account key, the flash contains noise.
DDoS protection
Being unable to reach your own recordings is a security problem too. Pocket runs behind DDoS protection, so traffic aimed at us gets absorbed before it costs you access.
Periodic security reviews
We review our own posture on a regular cadence, covering access, dependencies, and configuration, then fix what the review turns up. The point of a cadence is that it runs whether or not anything has gone wrong.
Enterprise BAA available
Teams recording clinical or otherwise regulated conversations can sign a Business Associate Agreement with us. If your legal team needs paper, we have paper.
A real person on support
Privacy questions do not route to a chatbot. Ask us where your data is, who can see it, or how to get rid of it, and a person who knows the answer replies.
